The Hotel
Balneario Playa de Coma-ruga
is one of the
few medicinal mineral water spas in Europe located next to the beach and in
the centre of the town, making it the perfect place to improve your health
and have a well deserved rest.
Situated on
Coma-ruga beach,
part of the municipality
of
El
Vendrell
on the
Costa Dorada,
it offers thermal, relaxation and beauty treatments. Its installations
include an active swimming pool and a Roman spa.
Coma-ruga is known as one of the few Mediterranean holiday resorts that has managed to preserve its charm: villas, long walks, and a vast beach with pale sand. Its coast includes the Masía Blanca Marine Reserve. This area is an underwater biome that is typical of sandy beaches, with a smooth slope into the water. It has had the blue flag since the year 1987. It is characterised by its calm, clear and warm water, and by the high percentage of iodine contained in the water in this part of the Costa Dorada, which makes it especially good for the health.
There are many activities on offer at the Balneario TermaEuropa Playa de Coma-ruga, including: yoga, keep-fit, aerobics, aquagym, walks along trails led by our guide, children's entertainment and bicycle rental.
Other cultural activities outside the Hotel include visits to the museum house where the great musician Pau Casals was born and frequent concerts at the adjacent auditorium. There are many museums, including the Àngel Guimerà Museum House, the Archaeological Museum, the Deu Museum, the Apelles Fenosa Foundation and Casals Villa.
The town council of El Vedrell offers a service called La Ludoteca (The Toy Library), which is intended to provide an area for children from 2 to 10 years old to play.
There are also several sporting activities available, including: El Vendrell Karting Club, with rental and sale of go karts (the only approved go kart track in the area); and the El Vendrell Golf Centre (Pitch & Putt), a small natural grass golf course with a round of eighteen holes located in a natural environment, with magnificent views of Plano de Mar. In the marina, the Coma-ruga Sailing Club offers water-borne activities such as: Introduction to Sailing for Children / Teenagers, Sailing Courses and Skipper's Courses.
Mediterranean food is complemented by the region's typical dishes: "xató" and "coca enramada", a type of savoury pastry, as well as the characteristic desserts, "bufats," all accompanied by high quality wines and cavas made in the region of Penedés, a region where it is possible to participate in Wine Tourism.
The water contains sodium chloride, which a significant presence of sulphate, calcium and magnesium. It has therapeutic and relaxing effects.
It is indicated for: rheumatism; after effects of injuries and traumatic surgery (i.e. very complicated surgery and those that take a long time to carry out); slow-healing fractures; muscular and joint injuries; respiratory processes, such as laryngitis, rhinitis or bronchitis; recovery from the after-effects of cerebrovascular accidents; gynaecological and post-operative inflammations; Hydropinic (mineral water) treatment, which has a laxative effect and mild action on the bile duct. This does not eliminate gallstones but it does eliminate light toxins that may be found in the biliary tracts and intestine, which it can also help in cases of impaired function. The presence of magnesium makes it useful as an activator of the enzyme systems and as a regulator of the neuromuscular junction. In short, it stimulates defences and neurolocomotor coordination.

Alkaline chlorinated, brominated and almost isotonic, with an emerging temperature of 28ºC.
Therapeutic qualities:
Its main therapeutic quality lies in the form of baths for all types of articular, bone and rheumatic pains and also for inflammatory, lumbago and sciatic processes. It facilitates the healing of skin pathologies and, at the same time, tones up and relaxes the nervous system.
Thermal Facilities:
Club Forma. A covered Active Swimming Pool with thermal water at approximately 32ºC, with a jets circuit, swan necks, counter-currents, jacuzzis and bubble beds.
Terma Romana. This is a hot and warm thermal water pool circuit, with humid and dry saunas, interspersed with contrasting showers. This is the ideal treatment for achieving the desired relaxation and calm.
Gymnasium.
Spaventure (spa-crèche for children): For children from the age of 4 with a lifeguard service. This is a covered pool with thermal water at approximately 32ºC, with numerous games and conceived as an aquatic crèche where the little ones can have fun whilst their parents relax.

Hotel facilities:
The Hotel is located
on the second line back from the beach at 100 metres from the sea and in a
central area of the town. The spring water rises at ground level from a
calcareous rock base located one hundred metres from the coast. The spring
water is channelled to an outside ornamental fountain from where it passes
to the lake and from there to the stream that flows out to the beach.
The Hotel has 119 double rooms, all with views and terrace. The rooms, which are all large, are air-conditioned and completely equipped with telephone, television, free mini-bar, hair-dryer and safety deposit box. The rooms are suitable for disabled guests.
The hotel also has a semi-buffet restaurant, cafeteria, crèche, children’s playrooms, a recreation room, 2 rooms for business meetings and conferences, activities service, hairdressers, interior garage, outside swimming pool and a thermal centre.
The thermal zone is on two floors and contains the facilities that are characteristic of the TermaEuropa Centres such as the Club Forma (Active Swimming Pool), the Terma Romana (sauna circuits and pools at different temperatures) and the Spaventure or children’s spa, completed with a beauty zone and thermal treatments area.
It situation, close to Reus, Tarragona and Barcelona, make the Playa de Coma-ruga TermaEuropa spa a centre with easy access, as well as making it an ideal site for cultural tourism.

There are 2 very spacious rooms: One of 170 m2 with a capacity in theatre format for 195 persons. The other room has an area of 80 m2 with a capacity in theatre format for 100 persons. The conference rooms have a terrace and views over the Hotel’s outside swimming pool.

Gastronomy:
Restaurant with semi-buffet service. For Lunch or Dinner, the
first dish is a buffet and the second can be selected directly by the guest
on a computer screen by entering the table number and the desired dish, with
the option of choosing the accompaniments and the dish is served at the
table. The dessert course is in buffet form.
Two types of cuisine are offered within the gastronomic offer:
Spa Cuisine: In which the food is prepared with the minimum possible fat, with an emphasis on the use of fresh produce, wholemeal pasta, wholemeal rice, vegetables…
Traditional: Dishes based on produce from the region and prepared in the traditional style.
Activities:
The activities team at the Hotel gives daily information on
the programmed activities in which guests might wish to participate.
Alongside the activities organised by the hotel, there are other leisure
time activities available in the area.
